We came as the first pioneers,
With many hardships and tears.
We left our home land far away,
Now on this vast Kansas land we stay.
The old world is behind us now,
We found this land lighted with a new glow.
In Kansas we found a new birth,
We found this country so beloved.
The straight winds do nothing but blow,
On the great fields of wheat below.
We found this land so true,
YES, this land of the red, white and blue.
Now we live in the land of the free,
I left my kin folks back across the sea.
I love the prairies and rolling plains,
With its land full of golden grain.
Kansas struggled, battled and grew strong,
Kansas even made a state song.
They built this mystic prairie land,
Which I call my homeland.
I care not what the future may reveal,
For what fine memories it will steal.
For my ancestors came across the great ocean,
YES, Kansas you are so dear to me.
